I wrote a post on my personal blog yesterday about my big prayer for the week. Basically, the church needs a new computer and some software. I am so excited about tomorrow night. We are having our first “Creative ThinkTank” downtown from 6-9 and I know God is going to show up in some HUGE ways. To be honest, I’ve been up and down about how this event was going to go. I’ve been praying about it and thinking about it a ton lately and have really been challenged by the book I am reading right now, “Emerging Worship” by Dan Kimball. It has helped me to focus back on the fact that no matter how creative we are or how extravagant the ideas are that we come up with, the focus has to be on Jesus! I think we can get so caught up with things having to be cutting edge and relevant (not that those are bad by any means) that we forget why we are making them cutting edge and relevant! It’s all about making the name of Jesus famous to the world around us. It’s not about me, it’s not about how many hours a week I put into preparing, it’s not about the songs we sing or the way we design the stage. It’s about Jesus. It’s about being on the front edge, so people will see Jesus. It’s about having great music, so people will see Jesus. It’s about doing things differently, so that people see Jesus.
